How Much Does a Website Cost for a Small Business in Melbourne? (2026 Guide)

If you've asked a few agencies "how much for a website?", you've probably gotten the same answer: "it depends, let's hop on a call." That's not a helpful answer when you're trying to budget.

So here are real numbers.

It depends on your type of business, not just page count

A five-page site for a photographer and a five-page site for a restaurant cost different amounts, because they need different things. A restaurant needs a table reservation system and a menu you can update yourself. A photographer needs a fast, high-quality image gallery and a password-protected client proofing area. Same page count, different build.

That's why we price by business type instead of a generic "small/medium/large" tier. A few examples:

  • Simple website or blog — from $277. A few clean pages, mobile-friendly, a contact form.
  • Tradie (plumber, electrician, builder) — from $500. Service-area pages, a quote request form, a job photo gallery.
  • Hair salon or barber — from $550. Online booking calendar, stylist profiles, automatic reminders.
  • Restaurant or cafe — from $650. Editable menu, table reservations, photo gallery.
  • Accounting or bookkeeping firm — from $1,400. Secure client document portal, automatic tax-deadline reminders.
  • Online store (e-commerce) — from $1,800. Full cart, secure payments, inventory tracking.

What makes the price go up

Every feature you add has its own price, shown before you pay — there's no mystery "custom quote" figure at the end. Want online ordering added to a restaurant site? That's a specific dollar amount, not "let's discuss." Want automatic membership billing for a gym? Same thing.

What's never included

Regardless of business type, three things are never bundled into the price: your domain name (usually $20–40/year), hosting, and licensed stock photography. We'll tell you exactly what to buy, or set it up for you on request.

How payment actually works

Half the total price is due upfront to lock in your build slot. The other half is due when the project is delivered and you're happy with it — not before. No surprise invoices.
